Exodus 31:13 states:

"You must keep My Sabbaths for this is a sign between Me and
you throughout the ages, that you may know that I, YHVH, have
consecrated you."

And so, Sabbath, from sundown at the end of the sixth day to
sundown at the end of the seventh day is the sign of our
everlasting covenant; the sign that we are children of the Most
High.  Given at the end of Creation Week, Sabbath Observance is
the Sign that we recognise YHVH as Creator and His authority
over us, His creation.  The Sabbath is also intended to be a time
of special and unique intimacy with our Creator / Bridegroom /
Savior / Master.  In any other religious observance we "do".  In
this case, we honor Elohim by not doing; not shopping, not
working, not being slaves to the pressures of this world.  By not
doing we also demonstrate that we realize we cannot make
ourselves holy; it is YHVH alone who can do that.  Hebrews 4:9
confirms: "So then a sabbath rest still remains for the people of
Elohim."

Further, Sabbath was to be a blessing and observing it brought a
blessing. Looking at YeshaYahu (Isaiah) 58:13-14 we see, "13) If
you refrain from trampling the sabbath, from pursuing your own
interests on my set apart day; if you call the sabbath a delight
and the set apart day of YHVH honorable; if you honor it, not
going your own ways, serving your own interests or pursuing
your own affairs; 14) then you shall take delight in YHVH, and I
will make you ride on the heights of the earth; I will feed you
with the heritage of your ancestor Ya'akov, for the mouth of
YHVH has spoken."

In this life, it is easy to get engulfed by worldly endeavors.  The
Sabbath, properly kept, constantly reminds us that we are
citizens of heaven.  Our stay in this world is but a preparation for
our time in the world to come.  Sabbath is a glimpse into the
peace, closeness and love of our Creator / Bridegroom / Savior /
Master.

If you are not already keeping the Sabbath, here is something to
consider.  Yahshua said that He is Master of the Sabbath.  If
Sabbath is His "jurisdiction" (and Isaiah 66 shows that it will be
kept into eternity) then why wouldn't we want to place ourselves
in that "jurisdiction"?  Just a little something to think about.
